PROUDLY JEWISH
Identity, History, and Leadership
This Grade 9 flagship course is designed to help students understand who they are, where they come from, and how to stand with confidence as young Jewish leaders. Built around the progression of:
Belonging → Understanding → Leadership
The course strengthens Jewish identity and belonging, deepens students’ understanding of Jewish history and narrative, and develops their sense of responsibility to the Jewish people and broader society.
Students explore covenant, peoplehood, shared responsibility, Jewish resilience, the development of antisemitism from ancient times to the present, Zionism, the State of Israel, and the ways Jewish history and Israel are understood, misunderstood, and sometimes distorted.
The course also prepares students to engage the contemporary world with clarity, confidence, and moral courage. Through media literacy, propaganda analysis, critical thinking, and leadership development, students learn to distinguish fact from distortion, evaluate competing narratives, identify misinformation, and respond thoughtfully to antisemitism and anti-Israel bias.

AMBASSADOR LEADERS
Leaders Today
The Ambassador Programme was developed in partnership with the Hamilton Police Service, through which students serve as ambassadors and present educational modules about Jewish identity, Jewish traditions, historical memory, contemporary antisemitism, and the lived experience of Jewish students. At its core, the course teaches students that Jews may face hostility, but are not defined by victimhood. The goal is to empower students to become proud, informed, and articulate representatives of the Jewish people, ready to lead with knowledge, courage, and dignity.
